RALLY DAY IS ALMOST HERE! The official kick-off for our program year is Sunday, September 12. The Festival Service will be at 9:30 a.m. with all Sunday School students attending worship. Look for the class signs and sit with your teacher. The service will include recognition of all Christian educators, and blessing of the backpacks. Following the service will be food, entertainment, fellowship, and a special Opportunities Fair in the Great Hall. Want to learn more about the various programs and ministries? How might you serve this coming year? Come and check out the fair. Mark your calendar! There will be no 11:00 a.m. service that day due to the congregation picnic. Other worship services will be at 8:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

SAINT LUKE FELLOWSHIP begins the fall season on Friday, September 17, with a trip to Lincoln’s Cottage followed by lunch. We’ll board the bus at 10:30 a.m. for our tour, and have lunch after we return. Look for details coming in the mail, or pick up a flier in the Happenings  kiosk.

The Friday Night Book and Video Group will begin the new year by discussing The Help by Kathryn Stockett on September 24 at 7:30 p.m. Set in Mississippi in 1962, it is described as “a deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor and hope; a timeless and universal story.” Join us in the Fireside Room for a lively discussion and refreshments.

FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN are invited to a Park Play Date on Saturday, September 25. Save the date and watch for more information coming soon.

CONFIRMATION SUPER SUNDAY is starting for grades 6, 7 and 8. Letters will be going out soon, but even if we don’t have you on our roster, please come and join us. Our first meeting will be Sunday, September 19, for both students and parents. Come and meet your teachers and hear about our program and what we have planned. Mark your calendars: 6th Grade Advance Retreat will be October 1-2 at Mar-Lu-Ridge; 7th Graders will be at Mar-Lu-Ridge October 15-17; and 8th Graders will be at Hallowood November 19-21. See you there!

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Join us this year as we spend our Sunday School time discussing “God’s work. Our hands.” We will have speakers discussing different projects they have done and what it meant to them. We will discuss what the Bible says about service, and come up with a few projects ourselves. Be sure to mark October 22-24 on your calendars for a special beach retreat weekend! Come join us to find out more on Sunday, September 19, in the Youth Lounge.

COLLEGE STUDENTS AND PARENTS: The Synod wants to know where our students are heading for school in the fall so they can get you in touch with the local Lutheran Campus Ministry. Please drop an email to YFM@saintluke.us or leave a note in the office with a contact address (school or home) and where you or your child will be in school. We will take that info here and mark it on our US map to remind us where everyone is. Questions? Contact Liz Garifo at lgarifo@saintluke.us.
